About the book
Between Two Kingdoms
At twenty-two, Suleika Jaouad was diagnosed with leukemia and given a roughly one-in-three chance of survival. After years spent undergoing treatment, she entered remission—but discovered that surviving illness did not automatically mean knowing how to return to ordinary life. She set out on a 100-day, 15,000-mile road trip across the United States to meet people who had written to her during her years in the hospital. The memoir explores illness, recovery, identity, uncertainty, connection, and what it means to rebuild a life after a profound interruption.
